The SereneLife SLRWMC60 Rower has a powerful and hybrid resistance system that combines the power of air and magnetic fields to generate resistance just as the one on the Nordic Track RW600 Magnetic Rower

Although, it is affordable and has several other features that could make your workout worthwhile and productive.

Some of the features include the built-in 21 workout programs and online connectivity. We will be looking at the pros and cons in this review.

Meanwhile, click right here to have a peek at the best price of the SereneLife SLRWMC60 Smart Rowing Machine.

The Frame & Construction

A lady enjoys exercising with the SereneLife SLRWMC60 Rower

The SereneLife SLRWMC60 Rower is made of a steel frame that is coated with anti-corrosion black paint. However, the dual rail has a grey finish, and this is the only color available for this model at the time of this review.

Also, some of the parts, notably the fan flywheel covers, the console casings, and other small covers are made of durable plastic.

The rowing machine supports up to 250 lbs./113 kg maximum user weight capacity.

The base features front and rear steel stabilizers that integrate adjustable levelers for optimum stability. Thus, you will be able to level up the unit on a platform that is not entirely even to avoid wobbling.

It is a pretty much large rower because its overall assembled dimensions are 83.5’’ long by 19.3’’ wide by 34.8’’ high. Differently put, it requires a workout area with measurements of 7’ (212 cm) in length by 1’6’’ (49 cm) in width. On top of that, extra clearance of at least 2’ on each side and the rear part of it will be needed for safety and ease of access during workouts.

The floor-to-seat height should be around 15’’, more or less. Therefore, users will be able to mount and dismount the rower easily regardless of their joint health status.

Unlike the foldable XTERRA Fitness ERG500 Air Rower, the SereneLife SLRWMC60 Rower does not fold for storage. You will have to lift it up upright to sit on its front base when it’s time for storage and this indeed takes much less space.

Moreover, it only weighs 73 lbs./33.11 kg, and there are transport wheels integrated at the front base for an easy relocation process.

The seat of the SereneLife SLRWMC60 Rower

The seat is large, padded, and contoured. This means it accommodates you for a comfortable long workout duration. No slipping off of the seat will be experienced as you row and slide back and forth.

The seat is also stable because it is attached to a dual slide rail that promotes extra stability. It has a steel frame with 2 rollers attached underneath it which slide on each side of the rail at the top and a roller at each side of the bottom.

Therefore, its transition is smooth and quiet.

That said, users usually purchase an extra cushion to make the seat cushier and more comfortable.

The slide rail length is 45’’ and the inseam it supports is 33.27’’.

The Handlebar

The handlebar is not straight as those on most rowing machines. Instead, it is slightly curvy inward to fit users of different heights.

It is coated with anti-slip soft rubber foam material for firm and comfortable grips.

The handlebar is attached to a 70.87’’ long 1’’ nylon strap that is anchored to the fan flywheel. Each stroke that you pull is smooth with no friction and it won’t snap on you. At least it will last for some years (even if used daily) before it will require a replacement.

The Footrests

The footrests are large and ribbed. They have thick adjustable safety straps and heel guards that ensure your foot placement is secure and comfortable.

Different foot sizes can be accommodated as well.

They are sturdy and made of durable plastic and are attached to the rowing machine’s frame. They do not pivot though.

The Resistance System

The SereneLife SLRWMC60 Rower features a hybrid resistance system. This means it combines air and magnetic resistance elements to produce resistance.

The air resistance is the main resistance system, and it is dynamic in that the resistance level becomes intense when the user rows faster and the resistance becomes weak when the rowing tempo reduces.

This does not have a regulatory knob where you can increase or decrease the resistance level except through your rowing ability.

This is great for HIIT workouts and could challenge even seasoned athletes.

While on the other hand, there is also a magnetic resistance system that utilizes a magnetic brake pad, and a metallic fan flywheel that is 13.8’’ by 2.2’’ in size to generate resistance. This could be regulated by increasing or decreasing the resistance level because it uses a servo motor that moves the magnetic brake pad close or farther away from the flywheel. The magnetic brake pad releases magnetic fields that induce a drag which ultimately produces resistance.

The resistance levels can be adjusted via the buttons on the console, and there are 16 adjustable levels. However, a certain resistance level can automatically engage if one of the built-in workout programs is selected.

So, the combination of the air and the magnetic resistance could make your workout harder and more challenging. Thereby helping you to burn more calories and lose weight and improve overall physical fitness.

As for the noise level, the rowing machine generates, it is bearable. The magnetic resistance is silent, it is the fan that produces some level of noise depending on how fast you row. Therefore, the noise varies, but again, it is not problematic.

The Console

The console of the SereneLife SLRWMC60 Rower

For a rowing machine of this category, it will suffice to say that it has a pretty decent adjustable console. It features an LED display that improves readability. In other words, the data shown can be read without difficulty even in a poorly lit environment.

It has segmented windows that track and display workout metrics such as Time, Distance, SPM/Watts, Calories Burned, Strokes/Total Strokes, and Pulse simultaneously. The SPM and Watts can be alternated if you want, and so is the Stroke and Total Stroke as well.

Also, the large bottom part of the monitor displays the grid of the resistance level in use.

Interestingly, the console is telemetric. This means it is compatible with a 5.3 Hz wireless heart rate chest strap (not included) so that you can keep an eye on your target heart rate zone.

There are 21 built-in programs that include 1 manual mode, 10 preset workout programs, 1 body fat, 1-watt mode, 4 heart rate control (65%, 75%, 85%, and user-defined), and 4 user modes.

A Recovery function is integrated. This enables you to know the recovery rate of your heart after a workout. It usually puts out a result between F1(excellent) and F6 (poor).

The console is also Bluetooth-enabled. You will be able to sync the rowing machine via an Android or iOS-based smartphone to FitShow app so that you can track and store your workout progress online, share data and even compete with friends.

The rower is powered by electricity since it has an eddy current magnetic resistance system with a servo motor. So also, the console is powered by electricity, and a power adapter cable is included in the package.

Accessory

The SereneLife SLRWMC60 Rower does not have a USB charging port or any fancy extras. However, it has a built-in tablet holder that allows you to keep a smartphone or tablet device handy for the purpose of watching workout or entertainment videos.

Storage

As aforementioned, the unit is not foldable but can be stored vertically. A storage space with measurements of 2’9’’ (88.3 cm) in length by 1’6’’ (49 cm) in width can accommodate it. Just make sure that there is enough ceiling height of at least 7’5’’ high.

Transport wheels are incorporated at the front base to facilitate the relocation process around the room.
