The Frame & Construction

The seat and the console of the Bluefin Fitness Blade 2.0 Magnetic Rower

The Bluefin Fitness Blade 2.0 Magnetic Rower is a lightweight unit that is built of steel and aluminum. In other words, the frame is made of steel, except for the rail beam which is made of extruded aluminum.

While on the other hand, the drive system shrouds, the stabilizer end caps, and the console casing are made of durable plastic.

The steel part of the rowing machine is coated with black anti-corrosion paint and the aluminum rail retains its natural finish.

The cylindrical front stabilizer and the rectangular rear stabilizer have rubber pads underneath that grip the floor for optimum stability. Therefore, your workout experience won’t be occasioned by wobbling or rocking.

This is one of those rowing machines that are not so large. As opposed to a larger machine such as the Merax Magnetic Rowing Machine, this unit has a smaller frame.

The assembled dimensions are 65’’ long by 20’’ wide by 29’’ high. In other words, the workout area measurements needed would be 5’4’’ (166 cm) in length by 1’6’’ (51 cm) in width. Having said that, it is recommended to leave at least 2’ clearance on each side and the rear part of it for safety and easy access purposes.

Unfortunately, there are no transport wheels on the rowing machine, and these couldn’t have taken anything to integrate. Nevertheless, it won’t be that difficult to move around the room since it only weighs 46 lbs./21 kg.

The machine is made to support 220 lbs./120 kg maximum user weight capacity.

The Seat of the Bluefin Fitness Blade 2.0 Magnetic Rower

The seat is contoured and padded with a large surface for maximum comfort. It stands 13’’ high from the ground from the rear end of the rail.

It features a steel base and 2 sets of silicone-made rollers (with sealed ball bearings) that fit on each side of the rail for maximum smooth, quiet, and stable motion.

The Handlebar

The handlebar is straight and not curvy. It is made of steel and covered with soft rubber anti-sweat rubber foam for improved comfort and safety. There are no heart rate sensors on them or any control buttons.

It is anchored to a durable 1’’ nylon strap that is connected to the drive system which includes a flywheel and a recoil system.

However, there have been complaints by 6’+ users that the strap is not long enough for them to fully stretch their legs when rowing, even though the rail length is sufficient. In other words, even if you manage to have your legs fully stretched, then, you may not be able to pull the strap/handle up to your torso.

We hope the manufacturer will get this problem fixed as it is not a complicated matter.

Footrests

Tne handlebar, the seat, and the footrests of the Bluefin Fitness Blade 2.0 Magnetic Rower

The footrests are large, and textured with heel guards and Velcro adjustable straps for steady foot placement and comfort.

They pivot in order to adjust to the feet’ movement during workouts.

Although there are a few complaints as well from some users, especially those with large feet. They suggested that the footrests are poorly designed because the straps kept on getting loose which resulted in their feet slipping off all the time.

So, if you have large feet you may want to reconsider buying this rowing machine unless you will confirm from the manufacturer that the problem has been fixed.

The Resistance

The Bluefin Fitness Blade 2.0 Magnetic Rower integrates a magnetic resistance system. It mainly comprises magnetic brake pads and a parameter-weighted flywheel. The flywheel’s weight is not specified but it usually weighs between 10 to 12 lbs./4.5 to 5.4 kg.

The resistance system is manually adjustable; meaning, the machine doesn’t require to be plugged into a power source for it to be functional since there is no motor.

To increase or decrease the resistance level, simply turn the tension control knob clockwise or counterclockwise, respectively, and there are 8 resistance adjustable levels.

The rail/beam inclines 10 degrees thereby improving the resistance without compromising the recovery process.

Users that wish to lose weight, and improve stamina and overall physical fitness would be able to do so through the workout challenges the resistance system provides.

Moreover, no maintenance is required because no part makes contact when resistance is generated.

The rowing machine’s operation remains smooth and quiet as well. Therefore, you will be able to exercise without being a nuisance to the people around you.

The Console

The console of the Bluefin Fitness Blade 2.0 Magnetic Rower

The console is Bluetooth-enabled and Kinomap compatible. It features a backlit LCD monitor that tracks workout stats such as Time, Distance, Stroke Count, SPM, and Calories with good clarity.

The monitor does display multiple workout stats simultaneously because it has segmented display windows.

There are no built-in workout programs, but you can set countdown goals for Time, Distance, Stroke Count, and Calories Burned.

The monitor is powered by 2 AAA batteries, and it turns on once the user starts rowing, and also automatically turns off when the unit becomes idle for a few minutes.

The Kinomap workout app adds fun to your workout experience. Once connected, you will be able to access thousands of workout videos, track your workout progress online, train in virtual trails around the world, and more.

Your smartphone can be connected to it through Bluetooth, or by scanning any of the available two QR codes that are designed for Android and iOS-based smartphones.

Accessory

There is a built-in tablet holder on the console. This is designed to enable you to keep a smartphone handy for taking calls, using the workout app, or watching entertainment videos while working out on the rowing machine.

Other than that, no water bottle holder or USB charging port.

Storage

As aforementioned, this rowing machine is not large. Although it is not foldable, but it can be stored vertically which is a huge advantage because it requires small space for storage.

The unit does not have caster wheels for moving it around the room. Nevertheless, it only weighs about 46.2 lbs./21 kg, hence, it can be maneuvered around.
